My name is brittany. I got essure at the age of 24 in October of 2013. I choose essure because my doctor thought it would be a good option for my busy life style. I had just given birth to my 3rd child. I had adopted my niece and was fostering my nephew. Plus I worked full time. My doctor had stated that it was less invasive recovery time was less and that there were no known long term side effects. She had said that I may experience some bleeding after the procedure but it would not last long at all. At the time I had health care USA (Missouri medicaid) my doctor told me that they would cover the essure procedure and the dye test 3 months later. The morning I went into have essure put in I was put under and. Not to long later I woke up and went home with some minimal bleeding. I was not concerned at first because I had been warned of that in advance. Days later I was still bleeding. It began to get worse so I thought I had just gotten my period. Ha nope! Not at all. In fact the bleeding didn’t stop for 3 months. I went in for what she called my post op appointment and had told her about my problem she also said I probably just got my period. By the time at this time I was taking my birth control for three months as recommended. I choose the pill when I began taking it I was loosing chunks full of hair. At the time I told myself its from the birth control. I told myself i only have to make it 3 months and then my hair will begin to thicken back up. During the whole 3 months I had mild cramping and a burning in my lower back. Time for the dye test came around and the doctors office called to schedule my appointment for the dye test and found out that insurance wouldn’t cover it. Since I had medicaid I lost it 6weeks after birth but I still had the most health net for women’s uninsured health but it would not cover the dye test. She told me the test would be 900 dollars and I just thought to myself where in the heck am I going to come up with that kind of money….. Needless to say I never did. There were times I could afford to buy insurance but could not get it due to it not being open enrollment. Not only that but as time went on my pain was getting worse and I was bleeding all the time. Sometimes for 2 or 3 weeks stop for a few days and I would bleed for another prolonged period of time. I ended up getting terrible migraines that would last for days at a time And had a constant feel of being bloated. To this day I still have all these symptoms and problems. I’m now almost 26 and just recently got insurance. I’m just waiting till march 1st for it to become effective so I can go to a doctor to see what my options are. I want this poision out of my body. I know all thses problems have to be related to ensure. I have always been a healthy young woman other than a mild case of asthma. I have never suffered from weight issues either like I do now. I used to stay between 120 125 now I stay at 135/140 regardless of howuch I exercise or how much less I eat. I wish doctors were more educated about the effects that essure has on women. I also wish that more women were educated on the fact that they can report their problems to the fda. I had no idea. I have lived the last few months In silence until I researched and found out how to do so. I’m hoping that by the beginning of summer I can have this essure crap removed and I can return back to my normal self.
